NSDCC SELECTION PROCESS.
Per Northern Suburbs District Cricket Bylaws (2017) the Management Committee shall appoint a person as Chairperson of Selectors (currently Jon Hopes). The Chairperson shall manage a selection process for all grades (currently Jon, Ken Healy, Michael Mainhardt and Darren Roy).
The Chairman of Selectors determines the process - currently teams are selected from First Grade down the grades. While performance will be a key selection indicator the balance of teams for each match will be considered.
It is the club’s desire to have all 11 players participate (bat, keep and bowl) in each fixture.
TWO DAY CRICKET, AVAILABILITY & SLASHES
With Representative cricket, university/school and work commitments we have the capacity to 'slash players' (select a player in one grade in week 1 and a different grade in week 2, or just select a player for one week) in a 2 day match ;however, we are under no obligation to do so if unavailability is a personal choice weddings, family functions, holiday etc. We have more flexibility in the lower grades because the rules allow for a higher number of slashes in those grades. Our preference is for all players to play both Saturdays as often as possible.
The Chairman of Selectors will make all decisions in the best interests of the club’s performance and player development.
PROCESS for SELECTION QUERIES:
1. Refer Chairman of Selectors
2. If a player wishes to query a decision from the Chairman of Selectors than contact the Club President. No review of any selection queries will be dealt with until it has been discussed by the player with the Chairman of Selectors first.
Play for the club and perform for your mates. We have strong teams on paper, however, cricket isn’t played on paper.
Win and prove the selectors right or wrong.
