North's Second Grade comprehensively defeat the University of Queensland in the Second Grade T20 Grand Final at Alan Border Field on Australia Day January 26, 2020.

Ably lead by Tom O'Malley in place of injured skipper Nathan Hauritz and coach Michael "Duck" Mainhardt; Norths out played UQ in all departments to lift the Second Grade T20 trophy in 2020. UQ won the toss on a hot and humid day and elected to bat on a flat Alan Border Field. All North's bowlers bowled full and to plan and UQ were held in check throughout losing wickets at key times. With the score at 4-108 after 17 overs and the innings at the tipping point Guy Rushton delivered in spades. Guy's first ball is a wide,  then Geraghty is caught at long off by Dawson 5-109, the new batter Wigginton has a hack and fifth ball smashes one to cow/long on where Nathan Carrol initially misjudges the flight and recovers to take a screamer, ball six Guy knicks D'Roza off for a golden globe and finishes the over on a hat-trick; a 3 wicket over 7-115 Guy 3-7(1). Guy returns to bowl the 20th over with the score at 7-121. The hat-trick is avoided but Barry Bester takes a good high catch running in from cow, then the new batsman hits the next ball straight to Tom O'Malley at mid off. The second hat-trick is avoided and UQ finish 9-128. Guy has the figures of 5-14 (2) built on the back of the pressure exerted by all the bowlers, excellent fielding and good match strategy.
Smallish totals can be hard to chase and James McPherson and Michael Dawson start the innings circumspectly. Macca is just getting into the groove when he miscues an off drive and is out for 10 (1-16 off 3). Addy Grewal comes in at number three and immediately gets amongst it. In fact Addy smashes them to all parts of the ground and with Michael Dawson playing the anchor role (33 no off 43) they take Norths to the brink of victory.  Addy is incorrectly adjudged run out for 72 off 31 (5x4s and 7x6s) in the 12th over with score at 2-105. Nathan Carrol (12 no off 6) and Michael Dawson finish off UQ in the 15th over with 5 overs and 8 wickets in the bank.
"We are the boys from Windsor ... " is sung with gusto in the (sound proof) dressing rooms of AB Field and the Australia Day weekend celebrations begin. Congratulations to all involved, with Ken Healy and Jon Hopes changing the direction of our T20 teams this season with immediate success.
