Brilliant performances by NSDCC 1st, 2nd and 4th Grade teams in the semi-finals of the Premier Grade 2 day competition on the weekend saw all three teams qualify for their Grand Finals over the coming two weekends (17-18 Mar 18 / 24-25 Mar 18).
With indifferent weather causing play to be stop-start over the two days our patience and nerves were tested
James McPherson's1st Grade batted Toombul out of the match at home being 6-404 when the match was called late on Sunday. Patience and strong contributions from all our batsmen frustrated Toombul over the two days resulting in a draw and therefore automatic entry to host the Grand Final at home next week. http://mycricket.cricket.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/match.aspx?matchID=2616243&entityID=13711
Tom O'Malley's 2nd Grade had a closer tussle with a strong Gold Coast outfit. Norths batted first and posted 164 on a good wicket mainly thanks to solid contributions from the lower order. Day 2 saw our bowlers, ably supported by brilliant fielding play havoc with the GC batting line up to see them knocked over for 116 when the match was called late on Sunday. http://mycricket.cricket.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/match.aspx?matchID=2616998&entityID=13711
Jordon Buckley's 4th Grade were looking for redemption for under performing in last year's semi-finals and duly delivered. Playing way from home and batting first on a notorious UQ No.2 deck, our batsmen weathered the early storm and then declared boldly early on day 2 at 7-210. The bowlers then destroyed UQ for 124 in 55 overs. http://mycricket.cricket.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/match.aspx?matchid=2625233&gradeid=2912_1&entityid=13711
The results means that Norths 1st Grade will host Sandgate-Redcliffe and 2nd Grade will host UQ in Grand Finals at home next week. While 4th Grade will travel to Valleys to play Valleys in their Grand Final.
Thanks to all for your support so far this season, get down and cheer the boys home as we chase an historic treble over the next two weeks
