Vale Bill Hopes
Date of Event : Wed May 4, 2016 10:03AM

On behalf of the Board and Staff of Queensland Cricket and the wider cricket family in the State, I wish to express our deepest condolences on the passing of Bill Hopes, a life member of Northern Suburbs District Cricket Club and long-time delegate to Queensland Cricket.

In addition to being a delegate, Bill served as a member of the Grade Cricket Committee and was President of Norths for many years.

He exemplified the ideal of a loyal, hard-working volunteer whose dedication and passion for the game encompassed the grassroots to the elite.

Bill set an outstanding example as someone who put his own interests well behind that of the sport he loved. He utilised the skills and knowledge honed from working in the banking industry to assist the likes of Norths, the wider Premier cricket community and Queensland Cricket to grow and thrive.

Additionally, he was a proud father and grandfather, and it was a privilege to have him and the extended Hopes family as guests at the recent Queensland Cricket Awards dinner when we recognized the wonderful playing career of James for Queensland and Australia.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jon, James and the entire Hopes family for their loss.
